A small sea voyage

We went to England for a funeral, but as you can see, there were some smiley moments.

The weather was warm and sunny, and we were accompanied by Lucy, (not the blogger but the efficient voice of our new sat nav). I don't know how we would have found the obscure places in Leeds for the funeral and various other little visits that we made without her.

She did take us across London via Hyde Park Corner, which probably added an hour or so to our route, but Darling D didn't mind a spot of sight seeing. Whenever we took a wrong turning Lucy just hissed "recalculating" at us through clenched teeth.

We took advantage of our trip by staying with family and friends as we landed in different spots, and even though the visits were short, they were sweet and we were made very welcome.

The funeral was just the best it could have been. M was not religious. The farewell ceremony, which mixed moments of laughter and tears together, consisted of a eulogy read by Mysweet and some music and poetry. M had lived a life of incredible ups and downs, he was an inventor, a wine importer, a purveyor of terrible puns (which seems to be a family weakness) and generally a very interesting person to spend time with. I will miss his stories.

We did not put Porridge in the kennels this time because a neighbour said that he would feed and walk her. But when we got back she ran round the garden twice at a million miles an hour, and then spent the next 2 days sleeping. She must have been on guard waiting for us to come home...for four nights.

So you didn't like my Hyde Park route then?

(Glad it went well).

The best funerals have both laughter and tears, like the best lives.

Puns are the lowest form of humor, and therefore the basis for all other humor.
