up for air

I am just briefly breaking the surface after another week of dashing between autist musicians, rowdy mechanics who dont want to learn English, a gospel choir and ABBA addicts to let you know I am still here, before diving back in again. Try to imagine starting 5 different new jobs at the same time and you will have some idea... oh and I have forgotten my 8 to 10 year olds with their super high level of English, and my adult beginners.
I take over Lucy's classes next week in a spare moment!
But on Sunday I took time to go tracking on the cliff top with Porridge, who worked very well. She will have her first competition at the end of November.
It was the first day of the hunting season and pops and bangs were flying from every bush. The weather was so glorious and hot and dry that none of the hunters we met were able to catch anything...and there were 60 partridges let loose by the local hunting club. They were all hiding safely in the unharvested maize... sunbathing probably...

Frosted Porridge and Gunshots

I am just uploading this picture of Porridge at dawn in a crunchy field of frost, (don't ask me why it is blue, the camera has its own opinion about colour), and I can hear loud gunshots close to my window... in my garden?
There is only a faint glow of light left in the sky, so I can't imagine how they are aiming their guns at the game when it is dark. Perhaps they have infra red sights on the guns. I had better not walk too near the window in case they are heat seeking missiles. If you don't hear from me again, they got me...
