Darling D shows Britney and Brittany how it is done

This Saturday was spent in the company of three ladies eager to jump the language barrier and explore the works of Harold Arlen. We sang Stormy Weather, Come Rain or Come Shine and wondered why Arlen and his lyrical collaboraters were so obsessed with precipitation - Oh and we would have done Over the Rainbow if we had had the time...

On Sunday Darling D announced that her next song was ready to be videod. I grasped the camera and let it roll, forgetting all about the great struggle to edit and get the film in the right format that lay ahead, since it was a while since we had done the last one. Sure enough, it had got no easier with two of our computers refusing to acknowledge the existance of the camera and the third one skipping frames, and the first format software I used stamping its name as a watermark across her face!

But here she is, with a very personal interpretation:

I like this version SOOOO much better than Britney Spear's ear-splitting rendition.

Thanks for the comment on my blog.

just been listening to your music sites and seeing the very young looking you!

Visual preception is one thing that always creeps me out as one adult told me when I was about 8/9yrs old that what you see isn't neccessarily what others see. Star Trek was big then and he used the aliens on that to further his argument. I have no idea if it was good arguement or not, being only 8/9yrs old but it freaked me out then and still does. I know my body feels increasingly old, in the mirror my face doesn't look too bad( I stopped looking at the rest of my body as a teenager) but my brain tells me I am still very very young.

Your daugther is very talented and has definitely got a different voice from you (singig wise). I must admit I had no idea it was a Britney Spears song (should read the title of post in future).

We are visiting my parents in Brittany in July/August. Maybe we can meet up sometime.

tristan the song was written for you wasn't it?
Dingo yes this version is a little more down tempo...
Jacqui why not, if we are here? You can experience the great danger of walking in the same area as a cannonball like Porridge.

Yes I'm sure Britney wrote it for our Tristan...

Her voice is certainly growing up isn't it? good video too, not wobbly at all!

Just as Richard Thompson captured 'Whoops...' for ever, so does Darling D make of Britney's confection something of substance. When's the family going on the road, Rosie?

Your beautiful daughter!
How proud you must feel.

Dick, I think the group has already split and the offspring have sprung off to form their own super groups..
Meggie, I am a little proud but her achievements are her own
Lucy she is finding her style...the camera was balanced on a mike stand since my hands began to shake dramatically after 3 seconds

Wow.

I am always in awe of people with talent.

If they would pay me not to sing, I would be a millionaire.
