Saturday Sulking Comfortably

I am tucked up in the warm, coughing and wheezing, and regretting my missed walk with Lucy this afternoon. But the icy wind blowing across the estuary at low tide would have been just a bit too much. Being the woman who knows rather a lot about rather a lot, she was able to inform me that I have Labyrinthitis...when I just thought I was dizzy when I stood up.
Underlying the regret is a comfortable feeling of letting go of worries and deadlines and guilt.
Being ill, but not desperately ill, is a nuisance but has its good side. I might even have time to visit some blogs.
My bass playing friend Etienne has been given "Carte Blanche" by the arts council to organise a performance with invited musicians of the music he has written over a long period. I am delighted that he has asked me to perform some of our duo songs with him, and also to sing on some of his other tracks with the complete line up (a brass section to die for!)
The tracks are wonderful, and varied. He is a fan of Jacko Pastorius, and has just sent me something that sounds like Weather Report and Frank Zappa have formed a supergroup and are playing on a misty green celtic hillside...in Africa...
Let's hope my voice comes back by Tuesday, when we start rehearsing.

I had vestibulitis once, just as we were supposed to get on a plane for a family reunion. The drugs for that slowed me right down to a crawl.

Sorry you are sick. Sometimes being just "slightly ill" allows us to step outside of ourselves for a moment or two. Sometimes that can be a good thing.

pedant's corner: i'm hoping you really mean "a brass section to LIVE for ..." because it sounds wonderful

Take your time and go for the Pastorius/Zappa collision in good order! Get well soon.

"a comfortable feeling of letting go of worries and deadlines and guilt" - hurrah for being good to ourselves and allowing us the latitude we would extend lovingly, instantly, to a friend but find so difficult to allow for ourselves.

Get well soon - but not too soon!

thanks everyone for your good wishes...bronchitis is settling in nicely, so I shall have to be nice to myself for a bit longer

I've been trying to make you a little video of the walk Mol and I did without you, but can't seem to quite find the right soundtrack, perhaps your WR/FZ/ supergroup on an Afro-Celtic hillside would be the thing!

Having a good excuse to frowst is always all right, I reckon, but I hope you're weller soon. Big hugs to you and one to Porridge from Mol!
