The mercedes knows best

I have had a lovely day today. It feels long overdue...

The last few weeks I have been suffering from the tossed up and down in a blanket syndrome of trying to do too much, which has been frustrating for the blogging part of my psyche. As for any little artistic embers still glowing, the fire seemed to have gone out...
I found myself wondering vaguely through the fog of tiredness whether I was living to work or working to live and who was this new person that I was turning into. I didn't seem to like her very much.

This morning I met Lucy's students (I am standing in for her for a couple of weeks). They are quite delightful, retired people eager to improve their English and a pleasure to spend time with.

In the afternoon I had a meeting with the director of the school where I had decided not to take up their offer of a job after a month's exposure to the chalkface. They have invited me back to do a singing workshop, so the parting was amical. It was a blazing hot sunny day, and I opened the electric windows of the elderly mercedes on my way there. Those of you who have passed this way recently will remember that I got a monstrously expensive speeding ticket last time I went there. This time, the window came off it's runner and jammed open. I think the merc is trying to tell me that it doesn't want to go back there again...

As I write this there is a ps to this post and the day has taken a dramatic turn for the worse, just when things were looking up...we will put it down to tiredness now, but will look it squarely in the face tomorrow and see if it has substance and needs to be dealt with.

I'm glad they behaved, but I hope you're OK...

Oh, you made me yearn for my very own elderly (we called it vintage to save its feelings) mercedes for a minute there.

So happy the storm was only "teacup" size. I can deal with those.
