This is a scan of a shell that I found at St Brieuc, after I saw some scans at marja-leenas blog.
I was about to chuck it out and try to get it more in focus when I enlarged it and saw that it was in focus. Some of it!

Wow. I love the golden background - is that a cloth or is that what you get with an open scanner?
thank you all for supporting my first shaky steps ... it was a pillow by the way, the nearest thing to hand.
I tried scanning with an open lid but the computer sent me a rude message saying that I had no document. I tried to personalise the setting and the computer went off in a sulk and started a 10 minute scan which promised to fill every nook and cranny of my memory with bits of shell.
I shall walk before running...I am at the crawl and fall over stage right now
