Today the sun is shining

I spend Thursday mornings with my autist musicians .
So far we have been acoustic in our explorations. We like to touch our instruments, smell them, feel where the vibrations are coming from; we are very physical, as well as cerebral, in our appreciation of sound.
Today we discovered electricity and microphones and a wonderful toy called a Kaos pad that I bought a long time ago for an electro music project. It distorts the voice and can sample short extracts and then play them back….

li..li..li..like this.

We were in heaven or a least we were floating in the sky like Lucy with her diamonds. Not only did we sing in a microphone (and/or make entertaining noises like farts) but then the sound that came out of the speaker was even funnier and whizzed off into space like a rocket and took us with it.

We laughed a lot:
Ha..ha..ha..haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarghoueshiiiiiiksssssssssssshhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

And we did a bit of breathing:
Ssssssssswwwwwwwwwwaarshquaissssssssssssshhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhaaaaaaaaaah

And the boy with the red hair performed “le RAP 2009”, (that’s what he says it was called, and he doesn’t usually speak very much, so I believe him):

Ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah

The sun usually shines on Thursday mornings and it did today.

Quite a wonderful blog I stumbled upon by accident. Get a feeling of the person and the place.
Wonderful work.

It sounds like the sun really IS shining.

I never cease to be amazed by what children can teach me...

Laughter, music and the sun. What more could we want. Lovely post.

I am sure you get as much pleasure as you obviously give, with those children!

Sunny days are just exactly like that.

That sounds wonderful. Music should be felt as well as heard, shouldn't it?

My daughter is a speech therapist and works with autistic children too.
