I am in love (it must be Spring)...

...with my new harmonium.

How do I love thee? Let me count the ways.

Your beautiful nut brown wooden body.
Your pearly white and ebony black keys made of plastic.
You are in tune, not only within yourself but also with other instruments.
Your metallic decoration like the chrome on an American car from the 50’s.
Your built in suitcase, lockable, from which you pop out like a jack-in-the-box, to stand proudly on your little pedestal.
Your deep round timbre, medium and high fluty voice, that I can play all at once or choose any combination of the three.
Your green bellows, which I pull sensually towards me with my left hand and give myself *mild backache while your voices surge and pulse.

This love is physical, I want to touch you, again and again, I cannot help myself.
I sit on the floor with my legs wrapped round you, and my fingers move faster and faster over your delicate little keys, as you vibrate.

It is a meditation, as I play the ragas that I have sung so often alone, now, at last…… accompanied.

* 3 hours later, excrutiating back ache...

It's always good to fall freshly in love every now and again. I hope you're very happy together!

As a long term relationship, I think I am going to need pain killers and a more efficient bellows action...

There's always adjustments to be made in any relationship - the question is whether the adjustments are worth it?

Well, if you get fed up with the backache you can always take the insides out of it and use it as a classy kind of cat-box.

3 hours of bliss is worth a little backache, right?

Yup it is worth every twinge...and it is certainly not going to be turned into a cat's home!

Steady, Rosie! There must be in Krafft-Ebing or Havelock Ellis somewhere an analysis of unnatural attachment to a harmonium...

A Harmonium! Who knew it could cause such pain!
Can it not be used on a table or something higher?

On another tack, are we going to be allowed to see the kittens?

Sorry, I am such a sucker for baby anything...

unfortunately the traditional way to play instruments in India is to sit cross legged...which I cant manage at all. I can just about manage wrapping my legs round it for short periods. But I need help to get up again. I expect I'll need one with a built in Zimmer frame soon
