All's well that starts well.

My autistics students gave me a cautious welcome and then...
They didn't notice my carrot fingers or my muffed chord changes. They were spellbound by my voice. Not particularly my speaking voice, but when it had melody to make it float and dip and soar they came with me, every one. And they loved my sung improvised stories about them even in my difficult accent, and they reacted and participated, which no-one expected (especially me).
I think of them as mine and already dread having to hand them back to their teacher at the end of her maternity leave as I know I must...
I must find some more of my own.

How lovely, and what a lovely way to have your music reaffirmed. I hope it continues to blossom. Perhaps she'll decide not to come back, or find breastfeeding breasts completely impossible and give up!

How lovely for you, I am so glad the children responded so well, & happily.
