Happy Birthday Sweet Sixteen

Today is Darling d's birthday.

I have here a collection of photographs which accurately predict that she will be talented in fashion, music, cookery, mathematics and parties, before anyone could possibly have known.

Here for example she is enjoying her mother's fashionable choice of matching cap and dress to the point that she is worried her headgear will fall off.

Here she is, only just able to walk, yet adopting a model's pose looking back at the camera and tambourine, thereby indicating the musical talent which will develop...

This is really included because she looks too sweet and tiny to be going to school, but we will say it is there to demonstrate her mathematical prowess and skill in remembering the number 39.

This next photograph was taken in my Best Friend in all The World/their Fairy Godmother's kitchen. D is learning to cook, probably chocolate cake judging by her liking for it now. Significantly, a champagne glass is also to be seen, in the background. BFIATW is a party girl and was probably demonstrating the art of partying and cooking at the same time. Personally, I find it a useful skill.

Here she is, dangerously near being grown up, and practising a siren pose on Daddy.

And here, from her blog, is what she gets up to now (when I am not around).

Happy birthday my love...

Oh, HAPPY birthday! And to you, too, Mom - we get to celebrate our children's birthdays in our own right, too!

jean, do you know I think you may be right. We always thought she took after dad...
Mrs C, yes a b'day makes you remember moments other than constant taxi driving!

The school transport card is a little on the heartrending side...

She does look like you in some of them, including the most recent. Anyway, she's a poppet, and a big happy birthday to her.

this is exactly how dumb i am: i kept waiting, all these weeks, to hear who brittany is. is she your mother in law? a mean librarian from school days past? who?

duh. where you live, huh?

Thanks everyone for your good wishes- that photo conveys the feelings of someone going to school for the first time. Nothing is ever that scary again...I hope...

Katydidnot dont think I can't see you playing up to that stereotype we Europeans have of all Americans knowing only their own geography and that of any country they happen to be at war with...mmm were there too many negatives there? Even I dont know what I mean...
