Remember that thing you were really looking forward to

...like being able to get in the kitchen and cook without fighting past simmering pig's trotters and jam.

...and being able to put something in the rubbish bin without someone taking it out again and asking if it is really empty.

...and having the TV pointy thing to yourself, and not having to watch boring Thalassa on Friday nights about natives in long lost places who are remarkably adept at fishing interminably in the rain forest rivers, or rugby matches full of grunting men with enormous chins heaving each other up and down the pitch...

...and having all that time without interruptions to get on with all the things you've been trying to get on with for ages...


well, it's never as good as you think it's going to be, is it?

Perhaps I do miss him just a tiny little bit...

This rang so many bells with me.
Gom is just like that,- are you sure this is empty? Do you need to keep this anymore? do you realise this is out of date?
Drives me nuts. But I miss him when he is not around.
